On October 25th and 26th, Sinterpack will take part in the second edition of the ENCUENTRO TECNOLÓGICO BURGOS INDUSTRIA 4.0, an event organized by the Digital Innovation Hub Industry 4.0 (Dihbu)The event, in collaboration with Promueve Burgos, sponsored mainly by Kaudal and Junta CyL, will be held at the Palacio de Congresos Fórum Evolución in Burgos.

The meeting aims to raise awareness of the industrial applications of key technologies for the development of Industry 4.0 and existing support resources to promote the generation of new industrial digitization projects, with a special focus on industrial SMEs.

In its first edition, held in 2021, there were more than 700 participants and 39 technology demonstrators present, 12 of them from Burgos and 27 from other Spanish provinces in a hybrid format, which combined an exhibition of demonstrators and technical conferences of great interest.

This year, the meeting will consist of two parallel activities, which will be offered simultaneously on the 25th and 26th. On the one hand, the Industry 4.0 Solutions Expo, where 41 technology demonstrators will be located, and on the other hand, the Industrial Track 4.0 Technical Conferences (third edition), which will show trends and use cases in industrial digitization.

SINTERPACK’s multi-reference collaborative palletizing system

Sinterpack will exhibit its innovative Collaborative Palletizing System for Picking in Hall 3. It consists of an industrial robot with sensitive skins (KUKA) that enables it to work collaboratively. The robot, being of industrial typology, is equipped with this sensitive that enables it to work in a collaborative environment, interacting with people without having to apply the safety systems of this type of robot, but with some of the advantages of the same, such as load capacity and height.

In addition, it has box conveyors and software that configures the pallets based on the simultaneous arrival of boxes of different sizes, multi-reference. This solution is ideal for companies in the logistics sector and some customers who end up picking (disassembling complete single reference pallets and forming customer order pallets).

This system integrates a 3D machine vision reader that calculates the volume of the box to be palletized. This allows multi-reference palletizing as opposed to the typical single-reference palletizing, which has the advantage, first of all, of forming pallets of products to the customer’s specifications, as well as creating pallets with boxes unloaded from containers to store the goods in the racking area, and assembling pallets for material and parcel distribution.

It will be, after a long break, the first fair of the sector at European level and therefore will have a great prominence both nationally and internationally.

Hispack exhibitors

It is estimated that Hispack exhibition will have more than 1.000 direct exhibitors, more than 1.800 representing brands and 42.000 m2 exhibiting area, divided in two pavilions. The largest demanding sectors will be there such as food and beverages, chemicals, cosmetics, pharma, industrial equipment, the non-food and automation sectors were recently incorporated.

All the innovations in packaging machines and lines will be at Pavilion 3, where PRODEC and SINTERPACK will be present hand in hand with their technological partners of Barcelona Packaging Hub.

Prodec, Sinterpack and Xolertic Group together for the first time at Hispack 2022

XOLERTIC, exhibiting for the first time as group, will show its “collaborative robot casepacking and palletising solution” one of the first solutions developed harnessing the expertise of both companies, resulting in a very compact end-of-line solution composed of case erecting, casepacking, case-sealing and palletising totally integrated with no need of fences nor protections for low-speed applications. The line has 2 collaborative robots, one erecting the case and casepacking and the second casepacking and palletising.

Besides this collaborative end-of-line solution, we will also show the new pallet pattern editor, in-house developed technology by both centres’ expertise., , an easy solution to create pallet patterns without need of a specialised technician, reducing line running costs and allowing improved performance. The tool, designed to be used in Siemens and Rockwell platforms, is compatible with any type of industrial robot and provides the possibility to palletise by rows and layers and double rows.

This editor “is the most modern version of the market”, enables total freedom of work as it is not limited to a certain number and previously predefined patterns, as it is the case of the rest of pallet pattern editors existing currently in the market, on the contrary, it allows to work with any case configuration, so as with any type of pallet, Euro pallet, American pallet, half pallet and even special sizes, giving a great flexibility for end users.

Some additional innovations being worked on will be also highlighted, such as a new completely integrated line architecture concept with full integration of all the operations required in an end-of-line solution. The solution harnesses the advantages of the technologies available for industry 4.0, digitalization, IoT, including traceability and more process automation, paying special attention to preventive maintenance, real time analytics, seamless integration with equipment of external partners and any ERP systems.

This new development, called “smart line” aims to provide an easy and scalable end of line solution where technology makes life easier as one of the major drivers is to reduce the need of highly skilled personnel as well as reduce the need of personnel to run the line. Natuber, a company that converts potatoes into a fresh-cut product, based in Vitoria (Álava), has entrusted the automated end-of-line of its production center to the Xolertic group.

The company that had already been developing its technological transformation through innovation and automation of all its processes, thus completes the adaptation of its production center.

Driven by the objective of increasing production volumes of a product with a limited commercial margin such as potatoes, and without forgetting the well-being and ergonomics of its workers, the company has integrated a Delta D-344 for bag packing and an industrial palletizing cell in its facilities. In addition to the entire product conveying system, and other auxiliary machines necessary for the forming and closing of the boxes, metal and weight controls, coders and wrapping of the finished pallets.

Together with the other innovations implemented at other points of the process, this solution has allowed Natuber to become a technological benchmark in its sector, maximizing the profitability of its product.

In addition, this implementation has enabled the company to continue its business despite covid-19, thus ensuring its production for hospitals, schools and nursing homes and cushioning the consequences of closures in the hospitality industry, one of its most important customers.

Natuber currently produces 10,000 tons of final product per year and employs more than 40 workers. Sales before the pandemic stood at €8.8 million (€7.5 million a year earlier). More than 100 professionals

Nuria Plans, LIC & MBA (ESADE, Barcelona and HEC, Paris), has just been appointed new Commercial Director of the Group formed by Sinterpack and Prodec. This appointment is a recognition of his professional career at Prodec, where until now he held the position of Sales Area Manager Asia and Key Account Nestlé.

Plans, who will also keep this last title, has held his new position since January 1 of this year, contributing to the consolidation of the new Group as a benchmark in the end-of-line automation sector.

As you may recall, in December 2018, the president of Sinterpack and current owner of the Group, Thomas Kermorgant, acquired 100% of Prodec, a company in which Nuria Plans has developed her professional activity for more than 18 years.

One of the main objectives of this new phase is to consolidate the group’s positioning as a leading one of the world’s largest providers of automated end-of-line solutions. A clear example of this strategy is the imminent launch of two new case packing solutions, a multi-axis robot case packer and a new solution using collaborative robotics.

Nuria, who played a decisive role in the internationalization of Prodec, now assumes the commercial management of the Group “full of enthusiasm” and with the to continue to increase sales in both export and domestic markets.The challenge is to unite the efforts of the different departments of the organization in order to continue to provide good customer service.

La nueva organización de ventas del Grupo formado por Sinterpack y Prodec nombra a Vicente Hernando nuevo Director Comercial para España y Portugal. After 16 years at Sinterpack and 4 of them as Commercial Director of this division, Vicente is now extending his experience to Prodec as well.

Vicente Hernando has extensive experience in the industrial and automation sector and previously held various positions of responsibility in companies in the sector, participating in numerous projects.

Hernando thus assumes the management of one of the Group’s five geographic divisions, which also has managers and business units for Europe and the United States, Latin America, the Mediterranean and Asia.

Sinterpack and Prodec present their new collaborative case packing cell on July 10, 11 and 12. The group, which has already had for years a solution capable of palletizing using collaborative robots, has developed, thanks to Prodec’s extensive experience in the development of case packing solutions, a cell capable of case packing packages weighing up to 10 kg, using a single collaborative robot.

Capable of adapting to almost any package format, this solution achieves 12 cycles per minute, regardless of the weight to be held. Another advantage of this innovative cell is its small footprint, facilitating its installation in factories with limited space.

Like the palletizing cell, the new Prodec collaborative case packing cell does not require perimeter fencing as it has integrated safety as its own functionality, which is why its main virtue is that it is suitable for working with people. Cooperate with the operator to let him perform the tasks he performs best, avoiding monotonous, repetitive or unergonomic work. These features represent a major step forward in improving the competitiveness of companies and help to bring them one step closer to the industry of the future.

Sinterpack and Prodec now have a new Executive Director: Jordi Jordana Gisbert.

Thomas Kermorgant, president of Keravalon and shareholder of Sinterpack and Prodec, argues the choice of the new CEO “for his excellent leadership skills and proven ability in the packaging industry. He is the ideal candidate for our company”.

Jordi Jordana Gisbert, a native of Sabadell (Barcelona), graduated from the Polytechnic University of Barcelona with a degree in Telecommunications and Electronic Equipment Engineering. Subsequently, he followed the Business Administration Program at ESADE Business School.

Jordana, has extensive experience in the world of Packaging, backed by companies like Volpakwhere he served as Chief Executive Officer from 2005 to 2010, increasing sales, returning the company to solid profits and developing production centers in India and China; or ACMA SpA where he served as CEO from 2009 to 2012, and where he achieved significant cumulative growth, both organically and through acquisitions by transforming the internal organization through an ambitious Lean program.

Since 2012 he has held various positions within Goglio SpA as Director of the Wet & Liquid systems division, as well as on the Board of Directors of Fres-Co Systems International.
